ISO 14001 describes the requirements to establish, implement, maintain, and improve the environmental management system of any organization, guaranteeing the compliance of its environmental responsibilities. The scope of the application will depend on factors related to the nature the organization’s activities, products, and services, as well as its location and operations.

The requirements of ISO 14001 standard are generic and aimed to be used to every organization, regardless of type, size, product or provided service.
When a requirement of ISO 14001 can´t be used in the organization due to the company’s nature, products or services; this requirement could be excluded.
ADDITIONAL REQUIEREMENTS
- To keep a documented system in compliance with the applicable standard.
- To keep clearly defined the certification scope.
- To keep evidence of implementation of the management system at list 3 months. *Recommended.
- To keep internal auditors with the competence to develop internal audits.
- To keep associated records with at list one internal audit.
- To keep evidence of associated implementation with the documented process, registry control, taken actions, internal audits, among others.
- To keep associated records with management commitment where the requirements for compliance is assured which the applicable standard indicates for reviewing.
